About the artist

Hi, I'm artist

I am a multidisciplinary artist currently focused on creating hand-built sculptures in various materials such as clay and resin.

My sculptures emerge from an additive approach to clay sculpting loosely based on my photographs and sketches. They primarily feature detailed human faces which have been my life long fascination.  Most sculptures are hand built with water-based clay that is later fired or casted into other materials such as resin and hydrostone. My latest sculptures of faces are gracefully adorned with organic forms and nature accents.  My current work evokes a sense of joy and serenity.

Background

From classical art forms like clay sculpture to contemporary digital arts, I have always found inmense satistfaction in artistic expression.

I learned a wide range of technical and visual art skills while getting my Bachelor of Science Degree in Media Arts. Those skills paved the way for me to pursue a multidisciplinary career. All along, I have found myself returning to the fundamentals of sculpting in my spare time.  I’ve experimented with everything from water based clay to Epoxy clays and even modeling chocolate! Each medium offers benefits over the others, and each has a place in my practice.

I enjoy learning about new processes so learning about molding and casting was an obvious next step towards my goal of becoming a well-rounded artist. I’m slowly getting better at what can be a messy, multi-step, unforgiving process!  I’ve learned to embrace imperfection!  It’s been tremendously satisfying so far to be able to take an idea from a block of clay to a cold casted sculpture.

Sculpting often challenges my patience and it continues to serve as a reminder of much there is left to learn.
